NEW DELHI, India (CNN) -- India's capital is known for its three-wheeled taxis, or "autorickshaws," which ferry passengers inexpensively around the city.

But New Delhi officials are revved up about a campaign to improve the city's air quality, meaning many of the aging, highly polluting vehicles must go. At least 2,500 are now destined for the scrap heap.

New Delhi Bureau Chief Anita Pratap has more on the story.
