(CNN) -- A decade ago, Japan was the world model of a successful economy. Now, it is in a deepening recession and is vulnerable to financial collapse because of a mountain of bad bank debt. The U.S. economy has taken its place as the world model of success, and Americans are not modest about lecturing the Japanese on their failure to repair their economy. CNN's Garrick Utley reports on what it means for Keizo Obuchi, Japan's prime minister-designate.
