NAIROBI, Kenya (CNN) -- Despite the terrorist bombing that put them in hospitals, wounded Kenyans who survived last week's anti-U.S. attack consider themselves lucky.
Friday's nearly simultaneous blasts at the U.S. embassies in Nairobi and Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, killed 257 people and wounded more than 5,500 others, mostly Africans.
"Whoever did this was driven by ignorance, because so many innocent people are hurt," said a Kenyan mother whose face was scarred in the bombing.

The blast occurred as she and her 2-year-old daughter rode on a bus passing in front of the embassy. The girl is in intensive care at a Nairobi hospital.
Even Kenyans not injured in the attack have been touched by the tragedy. Correspondent Jennifer Glasse has more details.
