Latest Iraqi defector said to be in Jordan
AMMAN, Jordan (CNN)-- Senior Jordanian government officials have confirmed that Iraqi defector Nizar Khazraji is in Amman and that he arrived in the Jordanian capital on Thursday.
Khazraji is a former general in Saddam Hussein's army but it is not yet clear what, if any, important military information he may be prepared to release to Jordan or to Western governments.
He is expected to hold a news conference to give more information about why he left Iraq. Two high-ranking defectors, both sons-in-law of Hussein, were killed in Iraq last month after returning from a six-month exile in Jordan.
