WASHINGTON (CNN) -- A U.S. soldier on a train en route to Hungary was critically injured Friday when he accidentally touched a power line after the train stopped near the town of Breclav in the Czech Republic.

A statement from the U.S. European Command Headquarters in Germany identified the soldier as a member of the Target Acquisition Battery B, 25th Field Artillery Regiment, but his name was withheld until his family is notified.

The Army said the soldier apparently had left the train during a routine stop. After he coming in contact with the electric line, he was taken to a hospital in the town of Valtice, where U.S. Army medical personnel are monitoring his treatment.

The brief announcement of the incident provided no other details.
