LONDON (Reuters) -- Britain's 97-year-old Queen Mother has been admitted to a hospital after fracturing her hip in a fall, a spokeswoman for Buckingham Palace said Sunday.
The "Queen Mum," as Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother is affectionately known, had been staying at the royal
family's estate at Sandringham in Norfolk. She was admitted to King Edward's Hospital in London late Sunday evening, the spokeswoman said.
She would not say anything about the condition of the Queen
Mother, wife of the late King George VI and mother of Queen
Elizabeth II.
"I don't think anyone can tell you that at the moment.
Something will be announced tomorrow morning," the spokeswoman said.
"Obviously if you're 97 years old, even if you break your
fingernail, it's unpleasant. But this is more serious than
that," she said.
