KINGSTON-ON-THAMES, England (CNN) -- Billy has it all
except the platform shoes.
After conquering the pop charts, it appeared the Spice
Girls were on top of the world. But the glamorous girl
group from Britain may be knocked off their own platform
perches -- by a parrot.
Billy, a blue fronted Amazon, has suddenly risen to fame in
the United Kingdom for his rendition of the Spice Girls'
hit, "Mama."
Billy's own mama, Jannette Brown, is a Spice fan herself.
She helped her parrot learn "Mama" by playing the song over
and over again in their home in Kingston-on-Thames,
southwest of London.
"I played it quite a lot and he just picked it up from
there," Brown said.
If Billy becomes a pop star, his owner says there will be
no danger of his burning out. They say that when it comes
to singing "Mama," Billy can outlast anyone, including the
Spice Girls.
