Pandemonium reigned in a state legislature in India today. Items hurled included chairs, microphone stands and fists.
A dozen lawmakers were injured in the melee, which preceded a vote of confidence in India's Uttar Pradesh province. Opposition groups walked out after the episode, and the right-wing party of Hindu nationalists won the crucial vote.
Analysts say the dissension could influence fragile electoral alliances -- and eventually the composition of India's federal government.
