BRUSSELS, Belgium (CNN) -- It's been a year since two missing Belgian girls -- ages 12 and 14 -- were reunited with their parents. As police investigated the disappearances, they uncovered what they said was a gang of pedophiles and, even worse, the bodies of victims who didn't survive -- some as young as 8.
As developments in the case grew, so did outrage against public officials viewed as corrupt and inept for not preventing the tragedies. Brussels Bureau Chief Patricia Kelly has our update.
