SANTA CRUZ, Bolivia (CNN) -- Scientists are working to identify a set of skeletal remains that they believe are those of Ernesto "Che" Guevara, the legendary guerrilla leader who was executed in Bolivia 30 years ago. The skeleton was found in a mass grave with the bones of seven others, apparently Guevara's fellow guerrillas.
Bolivian troops executed Guevara in October 1967 and buried his remains in a secret location. New evidence led scientists to a mountain village where the bones were excavated on Sunday.
