Escape artist credits aliens for his powers

CAIRO, Egypt (CNN) -- Bound tightly with rope and chains, Abdel Karim jumps into the Nile River, sinks below the water and -- moments later -- rises to the surface, having cheated death with Houdini-like skill. Asked to explain his unusual abilities, the 34-year-old Egyptian credits ... aliens.

Eight years ago, Karim says, he was "sucked into a flying saucer and in it were three tall extra-terrestrials (who) gave me these extraordinary powers."
