HONG KONG (CNN) -- Britain marked the handover of its Asian colony to China with a farewell ceremony full of traditional pomp and circumstance Monday.
Prince Charles and Gov. Chris Patten, the colony's 28th and final administrator, addressed the gathering through drizzle that became steady rain as the daylight faded.
The program included military marches, with brass and bagpipe bands, along with colorful, multicultural dances.
