Second journalist in a week is killed in Colombia
BOGOTA, Colombia (CNN) -- A Cali editorial writer who had
railed in his columns against Colombia's chronic drug
corruption was shot and killed, and the nation's top general
blamed the crime on "narco-terrorism."
Police said Gerardo Bedoya, the 55-year-old director of the
editorial section of Cali's El Pais newspaper, was shot six
times by an unidentified gunman as he left an apartment
building in the city center on Thursday evening.
Gen. Harold Bedoya, the armed forces chief and a cousin of
the victim, said the murder was "one more crime of the many
committed by narco-terrorism." He vowed to find the killer.
The slaying was the second involving a Colombian journalist
this week.
