BURLEIGH HEADS, Australia (CNN) -- The Billabong Pro leg of the Coca-Cola/ASP World Championship Tour was an event for Australian surfing fans to remember.
World champion U.S. surfer Kelly Slater and Hawaii's Rochelle Ballard won the Billabong Pro event Sunday in style.
Surfin'
Ballard, from Hawaii, scored an emotional win in the women's event against three-time world champion Lisa Anderson. Ballard, nicknamed "Barrels" because of her display of tube riding, said she enjoyed herself.
In the men's final, four-time world champion Kelly Slater
traded wave-for-wave with Brazil's Peterson Rosa, until Slater capped his performance with a display of aerials and speed surfing that left his opponents behind.
Rosa had the compensation of moving to ninth in the world
ratings as a result of his second-place performance.
