LIMA, Peru (CNN) -- Peruvian President Alberto Fujimori flew
to Santa Domingo, Dominican Republic, Sunday
for his second meeting in a month with the island republic's
president to discuss the 76-day-old hostage crisis at the
Japanese ambassador's residence in Lima.
The trip has fueled rumors that Fujimori is negotiating
asylum for the Tupac Amaru rebels who hold 72 hostages at the
compound.
Fujimori said Saturday that the purpose of the trip was to
boost relations between the two countries but added that the
hostage crisis "will be discussed."
