Unconfirmed reports: Deng Xiaoping has died

BEIJING (CNN) -- There are reports circulating in the diplomatic community that Chinese leader Deng Xiaoping has died. The government of China has not confirmed these reports.

White House Press Secretary Mike McCurry says White House officials have seen the reports but do not know if they are true.

The 92-year-old Chinese leader has been in ill health for years and has not been seen in public for three years.
