(CNN) -- The deteriorating health of China's paramount leader Deng Xiaoping, 92, has forced Communist Party chief Jiang Zemin and other leaders to cut short out-of-town trips to return to Beijing, sources said on Monday.
In Paris, U.S. officials travelling with Secretary of State Madeleine Albright say the United States Embassy in Beijing has received no word on Deng's condition. Albright is due to be in Beijing for talks with the Chinese leadership next Monday at the end of her first world tour as secretary of state.
