CHANGSHA, China (CNN) -- At least 30 people were killed and
dozens more injured in a fire that raged through a hotel in
central China Wednesday. Some people were hurt when they
leapt from windows to escape the flames, officials said.
The blaze broke out early Wednesday morning on the second
floor of the Yanshan Hotel in Changsha, capital of Hunan
province, and the flames spread swiftly to the seventh floor,
the official Xinhua news agency said. It said some hotel
guests were forced to jump from windows when the fire blocked
the exits.
