(CNN) -- An exceedingly rare planetary alignment will take
place Thursday, astrologers say. For the first time since the
Renaissance, the heavens will briefly line up in a perfect
six-pointed star -- a galactic Star of David.
While astronomers say the alignment is nothing out of the ordinary,
astrologers hail the event as a symbolic representation of
the long-heralded dawning of the Age of Aquarius. And across
the world, events have been planned to usher in the new era.
The GaiaMind Web site calls it a time for
earthlings to join together in meditation and prayer for "the
healing transformation of the Earth."
"Imagine people all over the world sharing a moment of
meditation and prayer," GaiaMind says. "Each person healing
the social, ecological and spiritual challenges before us."
The new era is triggered by the alignment of a series of
planets, which will center on the first degrees of Aquarius
and be joined by the sun with the moon opposite them all. The
last time the alignment took place was in 1475. Thursday's
alignment was happening between 12 p.m. and 4 p.m. EST.
