Jewish community blames security forces for cemetery
vandalism
BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (CNN) -- Jewish community leaders
have blamed members of Argentina's security forces for a wave
of vandalism in which 60 Jewish gravestones were smashed and
swastikas were painted on dozens more.
Unidentified vandals broke into Argentina's main Jewish
cemetery in the Buenos Aires outskirts late Saturday,
smashing tombstones, spraying them with swastikas and daubing
the place with graffiti calling the Holocaust a "great Jewish
lie."
Argentina is home to one of the world's largest Jewish
communities, which in the past few years has suffered two
major bomb attacks and at least five cemetery desecrations,
the last one in September during the Jewish New Year.
