BANJA LUKA, Bosnia (CNN) -- Muslim members of the new Bosnian
Serb parliament refused to swear loyalty to the Bosnian Serb
republic and the Christian religion at the parliament's
opening Saturday, and walked out of the parliament.
The Muslims did, however, join their former foes in a moment
of silence for the 200,000 who died in the Bosnian civil war.
Former communist deputies also refused to participate in the
religious ceremony, which including kissing the cross and
receiving a blessing from the Serbian Orthodox clergy.
Muislim-Croat representatives demanded that portions of the
oath be changed to accomodate other religious persuasions.
