BOGOTA (CNN) -- One man died and five people were injured
when a hand grenade exploded on a bus in the Caribbean
coastal resort of Cartagena on Tuesday, Colombian police
said.
The blast ripped through the city bus after a man got on
board to escape police. The man, who was killed in the
explosion, had tried and failed to extort money from a
shopkeeper, national police sources said.
Three passengers and two police officers in the street nearby
also were injured. Authorities cordoned off the area and
called in explosives experts to defuse another grenade found
near the dead man's body.
