First Bosnian presidency meeting ends in Sarajevo
SARAJEVO, Bosnia-Herzegovina (CNN) -- The first meeting of
Bosnia's three-person presidency ended Monday after almost
four hours of talks in a motel on the outskirts of Sarajevo,
International High Representative Carl Bildt said.
Presidency chairman and Muslim leader Alija Izetbegovic, the
Serb representative Momcilo Krajisnik and Croat Kresimir
Zubak were chosen in Bosnia's first post-war general election
on September 14.
According to a joint statement issued after the meeting, the
leaders agreed to convene a meeting of Bosnia's House of
Representatives on October 5, to release all war prisoners
immediately apart from those under investigation for war
crimes by The Hague, and decided to restore
telecommunications links across the ethnic divide, ending one
of the most sensitive technical barriers to unity.

KIGALI, Rwanda (CNN) -- The United Nations' international
tribunal for Rwanda has postponed until the end of October
the trial for its first suspect, Jean-Paul Akayesu. Akayesu
was the mayor of Taba, an area close to Rwanda's capital, at
the time of the genocide of the country's Tutsi minority in
1994 by members of the Hutu majority.
The former schoolteacher will be the first of 21 suspects
indicted by the tribunal -- only 11 of whom are in custody --
to stand trial.
