Disciple recounts Japanese doomsday leader's actions
TOKYO (CNN) -- Doomsday cult leader Shoko Asahara blessed
the box containing deadly sarin gas before his disciples
spread it in Tokyo subways last year, a court was told
Friday.
The gassing killed 12 people and injured more than 5,000.
Asahara disciple, Yoshihiro Inoue, recounted the cult's
history and teachings, along with dramatic details of
Asahara's actions leading up to the March 1995 gas attack.
Inoue was the second disciple from the Aum Shinri Kyo, or
Supreme Truth Sect, to testify against the cult leader.

Israel approves more homes in West Bank
JERUSALEM (CNN) -- An Israeli government panel gave
preliminary approval for the construction of 3,000 new homes
in the West Bank Friday, despite strong opposition from
Palestinians in the region.
The announcement comes on the heels of a decision Wednesday
to add 1,800 more homes in the West Bank town of Kiryat
Sefer. The moves also reverse previous Israeli government
policy, which froze most new home construction in the West
Bank.
Palestinian Authority leader Yasser Arafat has labeled the
gestures provocative and hostile.
