Hitler may have had Swiss bank account
ZURICH, Switzerland (CNN) -- The Jewish Chronicle said Friday
that Adolf Hitler may have kept royalties from his book "Mein
Kampf" in a Swiss bank account.
The newspaper says it learned from declassified U.S.
intelligence documents that Max Amman, publisher of "Mein
Kampf," deposited funds on behalf of Hitler in the Bern
branch of the Union Bank of Switzerland, the country's
largest bank.
The bank said the allegations may be true, but it cannot
confirm or deny there was an account because it no longer had
documents from the time. However, a bank spokesman said,
Swiss authorities froze all German accounts in Switzerland
after the war, and turned any money they found in accounts of
senior Nazis over to the Allies.
