Most-wanted militant shot and killed in India

SRINAGAR, India (CNN) -- Indian troops on Wednesday shot
dead one of Kashmir's most wanted militants, a man police
said masterminded bombings that killed some 70 people in New
Delhi since last November.
A senior police official said Hilal Ahmad Beigh, 28,
was killed in a shoot-out with paramilitary troops on the
outskirts of Srinagar.
Hilal became a militant in 1989, when Muslims in Jammu and
Kashmir began their movement to separate from the mostly
Hindu country. Thousands have died in violence linked to
separatism.
