on the fourth of July

OKLAHOMA CITY, Oklahoma (CNN) --- Drums beat today at the capitol building in Oklahoma City where an honor guard of Native-American war veterans presented flags. A crowd of thousands were on hand to watch the special ceremony.

Flags have been flying at half-staff since the bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building about two and a half months ago. At 9:02 AM, the time of the blast, flags were raised to full-staff today. Spirits were boosted in the city that has been in mourning for the bombing victims. Members of law enforcement, the military and the relief groups stood watch.

As America marched in a parade through Oklahoma today, the events were overwhelming for some. Many had memories difficult to lay to rest after working days or weeks at the blast site. It took a convention center to hold all of the volunteers for an award ceremony.
