Navy Blue Angels jet missing in Georgia
October 28, 1999 From Military Affairs Correspondent Jamie McIntyre WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The Navy said Thursday that an F-18 jet from its Blue Angels precision flying team is missing and may have crashed in south Georgia. It is not yet clear how many pilots were aboard -- the Blue Angels use both one-seat and two-seat models in their performances. The disappearance occurred during what the Pentagon calls routine training in preparation for an air show this weekend at Moody Air Force Base near Valdosta, Georgia. The plane did not return to the base after the rehearsal flight. No parachutes were spotted. The Blue Angels are based at Pensacola Naval Air Station in Florida.
