WASHINGTON (CNN) -- In the 1930s, the kidnapping of 20-month- old Charles Lindbergh Jr. created a sensation and was dubbed the "crime of the century."

Now, for the first time, the National Archives has released more than 28,000 pages of FBI files on the case. CNN's Bruce Morton looks back at the case, the evidence and what questions these documents from long ago might help answer.
