Labor Day '99: Long hours, good economy
September 6, 1999

Several new studies focus on different angles of the work force. One study finds Americans work the longest hours and have the highest production rate in the industrialized world. But a more disturbing poll found many workers become so angered they have the urge to hit their co-workers. That's bad news for employers, since another poll found that co-workers are a big factor in whether an employee is satisfied with his job.
