GRANADA HILLS, California -- Police with guns drawn Tuesday surrounded a Jewish community center in the Los Angeles area, seeking a gunman who opened fire in a day care center, hitting three children and two adults.
Police secured the area around the center and moved out into the neighborhood to search door-to-door for the gunman.
Other officers led a string of small children out of the day care building in the middle of the North Valley community center.
Sgt. John Pasquariello said there were no reported fatalities. Two children of the victims were said to be in critical condition, one 6 years old and the other 8 years old. There is no word on the condition of a 5-year-old victim and the two adults.
