U.S. to receive first Yugo refugees on Friday

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Providing food, clothing, medicine and
shelter for hundreds of thousands of Kosovo refugees -- and
doing it quickly -- is a process that involves as much
planning as a military mission.
Both the Pentagon and private U.S.-based relief agencies are
coordinating aid shipments to Europe.
Meantime, in a related operation -- one that involves
transporting people, not cargo -- the U.S. government is
preparing for the arrival of up to 20,000 refugees at the
U.S. naval base at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
The first are expected to arrive at the outpost, a former
Cold War hot spot, on Friday.
