SANTA ANA, California (CNN) -- More than half a century ago, the elegant Packard was the car of choice for movie moguls and tycoons. Now, decades after the Detroit-based auto company went out of business, the time may be right for a comeback. At least Roy Gullickson hopes so.

The Phoenix engineer, who has invested $130,000 in a hand-built prototype 1999 Packard, hopes to revive the brand for deep-pocket enthusiasts.

At a California convention where Packard collectors are showing off their vintage models, Gullickson is looking for investors to keep the name alive.
