D.C. police, with FBI assistance, probe polling firm break-inJanuary 13, 1999Web posted at: 5:57 a.m. EST (1057 GMT) WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The District of Columbia Police is investigating a break-in at a Democratic polling firm on Capitol Hill. The offices of Greenberg Quinlan Research Inc. were apparently broken into Monday night or early Tuesday morning. The suspect or suspects apparently made their way in through the roof, according to law enforcement sources. FBI spokesperson Susan Lloyd said the District Police has requested the FBI to assist in the gathering and analysis of evidence at the scene. "We're assisting at their request. Right now, it is being treated as a burglary." Lloyd says it is the District Police's case, and that the FBI currently does not have jurisdiction. The District Police will make an assessment as to what, if anything, was taken and will inform the FBI if any sensitive or proprietary information was taken that will give the FBI joint jurisdiction. Greenberg Quinlan does consulting work, both domestically and abroad, and is providing some help in connection with upcoming Israeli elections. The firm is apparently consulting potential Israeli Prime Minister Candidate Ehud Barak.~ | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
