(CNN) -- Much of the U.S. public is concerned about possible problems from the so-called "Y2K bug," but few people plan to stockpile food, avoid air travel or arm themselves for the end of the year, according to the results of a recent CNN/Time poll.

However, nearly half of those polled said they would withdraw extra cash from their bank accounts. And of the 1,067 adults surveyed, 53 percent said they believed the banking system was likely to be disrupted as computer systems attempt to roll over from 1999 to the year 2000.

Only 38 percent said they believed riots or other social unrest will occur when the year 2000 begins, and only 9 percent said the world will end.

But 13 percent said they plan to arm themselves with a gun for the calendar change, 23 percent said they will stockpile fuel and 33 percent said they will stockpile food.

Despite worldwide hype for spectacular year 2000 bashes, only 32 percent of the respondents said they had made special plans for the coming New Year's Eve.
