NEW YORK (CNN) -- From the mighty Rolex to the modest Timex, virtually all timepieces share an unusual trait: They show the exact same time in advertisements.

Why do timepiece troops mark time in perfect unison? Correspondent Jeanne Moos solves this chronological quandary.
