WASHINGTON (CNN) -- From a distance, the White House looks spacious. But those who have to live and work in the nearly 200-year-old building say things are actually more than a bit cramped.

So the National Park Service has come up with a plan to spend $300 million over the next 20 years to expand the White House, with much of the new construction going underground. CNN's Kathleen Koch takes a look at what's being proposed.
