INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana (CNN) -- As a hopeful dog and anxious neighbors watched for a possible fall, Sammy the cat spent several days perched atop a street light pole before rescuers used a cherry picker to pluck him to safety.

Sammy's grateful owners theorized that a squirrel probably inspired him to go where few cats have gone before. WXIN provides video on this new twist in an old cat tale.
