DENVER (CNN) -- It's a trip all serious beer lovers should make at least once in their lives. The Great American Beer Festival, a three-day event held every fall, describes itself as the "longest-running celebration of American brewing."
While hundreds of professional brewers compete for medals in 52 categories, beer enthusiasts can wander Denver's Currigan Exhibition Hall to sample the contenders. More than 1,900 U.S.-made beers were presented at this year's festival.
