![]() LSD sickens three children at elementary schoolSeptember 25, 1998Web posted at: 8:21 p.m. EDT (0021 GMT) LOS ANGELES (CNN) -- LSD mixed with a commercial breath freshener sickened at least three students at an elementary school in Los Angeles on Wednesday, police said Friday. The hallucinogenic drug had been injected into a vial of a commercially sold breath freshener called Ice Drops, Los Angeles police said. Paramedics were called to Haddon Elementary School on Wednesday after 14 children reported feeling nauseous and dizzy. Of the 13 students taken to emergency rooms, three were found to have LSD in their systems and were hospitalized overnight. No traces of LSD were found in the other students, despite statements from some of them that they had ingested a "white powder." Los Angeles Police Lt. Richard Papke said a fourth-grade girl apparently found the tainted breath freshener on her way to school and shared it with classmates. Police said they do not know why the breath freshener was spiked with LSD, but they are investigating. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
