LOS ANGELES (CNN) -- If your image of AIDS patients is people sitting around waiting to die, you need to revise your thinking.

A survey by the AIDS Project Los Angeles found 70 percent of people with AIDS or HIV, which causes AIDS, are working again, want to work, or never left work.

Advances in AIDS treatment mean many AIDS patients maintain a high energy level, and a high output level at work.

Some of the patients say working makes them feel better, because, as one said, you "don't give up."
