Gasoline prices tumble further

Graphic September 13, 1998
Web posted at: 11:06 p.m. EDT (0306 GMT)

LOS ANGELES (CNN) -- Gasoline prices continue to fall.

The latest Lundberg survey, conducted September 11, shows the average price of a gallon of gasoline, all grades, both self- and full-serve, is $1.07. That's down more than a cent from the last survey three weeks ago.

Analyst Trilby Lundberg says the "extraordinary price crash" comes despite the traditional high demand during the summer months. As demand drops off, prices are expected to fall even further, she said.

On September 5, 1997, gasoline prices averaged $1.32 a gallon. That's 25 cents a gallon higher than this year's prices.
