Are Americans primed for presidential failure?

(CNN) -- Experts say that, since the early 1960s, political problems and scandals have led Americans to lower their views of the office of the presidency.

Consider all the talk about President Clinton and his relationship with Monica Lewinsky, and how his alleged misdoings have hurt the presidency.

Experts say this, and other events of recent decades, have made the United States a nation primed to expect presidential failure.
