NEW YORK (CNN) -- In sports, it's not unusual for a professional team trying to
get a star athlete to pay a signing bonus. In the midst of a nationwide teacher
shortage, the same financial incentive is being used to recruit top college
graduates, including some who may not have considered a teaching career.
