HOLLISTER, California (CNN) -- FBI officials confirmed that a body found Wednesday afternoon is not that of 13-year-old Christina Williams, who has been missing for over a week. Authorities are working to determine the identity of the badly decomposed body, found Wednesday afternoon about 50 miles from where Christina was last seen.
Christina disappeared June 12 while walking her dog on the grounds of the former Fort Ord Army Base near her home in Seaside, on the Monterey County coast 85 miles southeast of San Francisco.
The body found in a rural area Wednesday by teen-agers was a female with the same hair color and same build as the missing teen-ager, according to San Benito County Sheriff Harvey Nyland.
Christina's family reported her missing after her dog was found the day she disappeared. A witness may have seen Christina in a car with two men.
The FBI is involved in the case because the girl was last seen on federal property.
