WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Retired U.S. Army Gen. Colin Powell will advise the British military on racial issues at the invitation of the British defense minister.
Powell told CNN the main point of his participation will be in the area of "equal opportunity," where he feels "we can share our experience with the British." Powell, who also served as chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, will visit Britain in the fall.
In a written statement, British Defense Secretary George Robertson on Sunday said: "I am delighted that General Powell has accepted my invitation to visit the United Kingdom in the autumn and to share with us his many years of experience on equal opportunity issues within the American military."
