LOS ANGELES (CNN) -- A newborn baby was in critical condition
Sunday after a jogger discovered the infant buried alive in a
shallow grave.
Los Angeles County officials said a woman was jogging with
her dogs on a trail near Alpine Villa Drive and North Lake
Avenue about 8:20 p.m. when her pets found the partially
buried baby, its umbilical cord still attached.
According to Pat Maloney, a nursing supervisor at Huntington
Memorial Hospital in Pasadena, the 1-day old boy was in the
neonatal intensive care unit in critical condition.
Maloney said the full-term baby had low blood pressure, and
medical personnel were trying to stabilize it.
