Twisters race across West Texas

Several houses were damaged by the Texas twisters

WEST TEXAS (CNN) -- Violent weather roared through parts of West Texas on Sunday. There were no injuries reported as several twisters touched down around the state, but the high winds destroyed some homes and other buildings.

In Amarillo, winds gusting as high as 90 mph damaged at least 40 vehicles at a car dealership. A metal building was thrown atop another structure.

The weather service said there were also wind gusts over 60 mph and hail almost three inches in diameter in some places.

Residents say they would begin cleaning up the damage Monday morning.
