ARLINGTON, Virginia (CNN) -- A freight train derailment near Arlington Sunday morning forced rail passengers to board buses between Richmond and Washington, D.C.
The derailment, on CSX tracks in the Crystal City area of Arlington County, involved 19 cars, according to CSX spokesman Rob Gould. He said there were no injuries and that no hazardous materials were involved.
The derailment will affect eight trains that travel south from Washington but will not cause delays for Amtrak's Southern Crescent, which runs through Atlanta to New Orleans, or the Cardinal, which runs to Chicago, said Amtrak spokesman Rich Remington.
Passenger traffic in the Northeast corridor between Washington and Boston is not expected to be affected, but Washington-area commuter trains could experience some delays Monday morning.
