NORTH MIAMI, Florida (CNN) -- A middle school assistant principal was arrested Friday on charges of trying to buy 30 kilograms of cocaine from an undercover Drug Enforcement Administration agent.
DEA spokewoman Pam Brown said that North Miami Beach Middle School Assistant Principal Willie Young, 52, worked as a broker for drug distributors. The DEA accuses Young of planning to distribute the cocaine in the Miami and Fort Lauderdale areas, where it would be turned into crack cocaine and other forms worth millions of dollars.
Investigators said Young was videotaped arranging the drug deal as he was busted.
Young allegedly conducted some meetings in his school office, with students nearby, the DEA said. They said Young told them he felt more comfortable doing his drug business at the school. He was arrested in front of the school.
"I didn't do it," Young told CNN. "I'm innocent. I thought it was a joke. I don't know why they did this to me."
